Joe R. Anderson, PharmD, PhC
Dr. Anderson is the Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs at the University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Pharmacy (COP). He is also an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with the UNM COP and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine with the UNM School of Medicine. His clinical practice site is the UNM Heart Failure Clinic. He has been licensed as a Pharmacist Clinician since 2002. His research interests are in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy (specifically heart failure and ASCVD prevention) and health outcomes (particularly as they pertain to advanced pharmacy practice). He has served as Course-Director for the Physical Assessment for the Pharmacist Clinician course for 15 years. He served on the NM Board of Pharmacy (BOP) from 2008 through 2018. He serves on the NM BOP Pharmacist Clinician Credentialing Committee and Pharmacy Practice Committee. He is active within ASHP and has served on the Council on Public Policy and on the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners SAG on Compensation and Practice Sustainability. Dr. Anderson was recognized by the NM Society of Health-System Pharmacists as the Hospital Pharmacist of Year in 2005 and was awarded the Dorothy Dillon Award in 2010. Dr. Anderson was also recognized by the NM Pharmacists Association receiving the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award in 2008. In 2018, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the UNM COP.
