Barbara Nussbaum joined the ASHP Foundation as the Vice President in April 2016 after over five years in the ASHP Educational Services Division as the Director, Adult Learning and Educational Programs. Her role at the Foundation is to provide professional leadership and strategic direction over the array of high-impact programs, including awards, grants, and leadership education. She continues to work closely with ASHP members, content matter experts, and ASHP staff to identify and plan activities and resources to enhance patient health and advance pharmacy practice. Barbara has a range of experiences in healthcare, including, working as a clinical pharmacist at George Washington University Medical Center and Suburban Hospital, conducting assessments and redesigning training materials for the Department of Pharmacy at the National Institutes of Health, building a private medical practice with her husband. While working as a clinical pharmacist, Barbara completed a Master of Science in Education, Adult and Continuing Education. Several years later she returned to Virginia Tech to complete a Ph.D. in Adult Learning and Human Resources Development.
