Kristina Leav is a 4th year pharmacy student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. She has been heavily involved in her APhA-ASP chapter by serving as the Operation Substance Use Disorders (formerly Generation Rx) chair focusing on safe medication practices for all patients. In her role she fostered relationships with DisposeRx and other organizations involved in harm reduction services and spearheaded a pharmacy-led naloxone training event open to her university. Her efforts have been nationally recognized through her work in the Together We NarCAN initiative that she started with her classmates last year. She is an active member in PLS, PDC, APhA-ASP, SNPhA, and serves as the president of her class; she also works in the community setting as a Kroger Pharmacy intern and in the inpatient pharmacy at Regional One Health as a clinical pharmacy student intern. In addition to her Pharm.D., she is working towards a masters in health informatics and information management. Recently, she was recognized as one of ASHP’s Medication Safety Scholars and hopes to use her passion for medication safety and health informatics to create positive change. Over the next few months, she is looking forward to developing her clinical and critical thinking skills and exploring and advocating for the profession of pharmacy through research projects, leadership opportunities and community service.
