Daniel Truelove is the Director of Pharmacy for University Health Network at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he is responsible for leading new ambulatory care pharmacy program development with a focus on value-based care. He serves as Program Director for the PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency program and Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. Truelove earned his Pharm.D. from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Louisville Hospital. He is board-certified in pharmacotherapy, ambulatory care, and previously in infectious disease where he specialized in virology. As a practitioner, he has implemented new clinical pharmacy services at multiple sites, including specialty clinics and chronic disease management.
Truelove is actively involved with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) where he serves as Chair for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners. He has developed and contributed to multiple committees, networking sessions, resource documents, and ASHP initiatives. Truelove is a frequent presenter at ASHP meetings and other national meetings on ambulatory and specialty pharmacy topics. His professional interests include advancing the profession of pharmacy through enhanced provider status, redefining the expectations and responsibilities of clinical pharmacists, and educating future leaders of medicine and pharmacy to improve patient care.
