Magdi Awad is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). Additionally, he is the founding Director of Pharmacy for AxessPointe Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center with five locations and four pharmacies in northeast Ohio. Dr. Awad's expertise is in ambulatory care services, pharmacy administration, and 340B pricing program. Dr. Awad received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree and residency training at the University of Minnesota. He completed a fellowship in academic medicine and received his Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration degree at NEOMED.
Dr. Awad has received several operational and research grants related to clinical pharmacy services in the ambulatory care setting. Dr. Awad’s scholarship activity includes published research at peer-reviewed journals and presentations at local and national meetings. He is the Chair for the Ohio Medication Therapy Management Consortium, sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health. Dr. Awad is a Student Organization Advisor to the Student Run Free Clinic on campus.
Dr. Awad was awarded the 30 for the Future Award by the Greater Akron Chamber. This award honors professionals whose contributions have impacted the Greater Akron Region. In addition, Dr. Awad was named “Who to Watch in Health Care” by Crain’s Cleveland Business for his contributions to improving the health of the underserved via innovative patient care services.
