Jamie Tharp, PharmD, BCSCP is the Compounding Compliance Manager and adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Michigan (UM), where in 2018, she launched a compounding compliance program to manage regulatory response and advance compounder training and education across 20 compounding locations, for more than 400 compounders. The compounding compliance team is comprised of 3 additional pharmacists and 4 pharmacy technicians who are trained experts in sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling and are tasked with advancing policies and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards across all compounding sites within the health system.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Tharp has also held a leadership position at UM Children’s and Women’s hospital and spent 14 years at HomeMed, the UM home infusion pharmacy. Dr. Tharp earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UM College of Pharmacy in 2004 and achieved board certification in sterile compounding in 2020. She is serving as a Director on both the Executive and the Consultant and Specialty Pharmacists of Michigan (CSPM) Boards for the Michigan Pharmacist’s Association (MPA). She was awarded the CPSM Pharmacist of the Year in 2019. She also participated in the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation Health Professional Leadership Academy and graduated from the program in October 2015. Dr. Tharp has presented nationally and at state level on topics of compounding regulation, safety, and LEAN management within pharmacy.
