DAN D. DEGNAN, PharmD, MS, CPPS, FASHP currently serves as the Associate Director for the Professional Skills Laboratory and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Degnan also has an appointment at the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering at Purdue as a Clinical Research Associate with expertise and research interests in the area of medication safety technology, advanced pharmacy automation, pharmacy operations and high reliability in healthcare. Dr. Degnan currently works on funded research in the area of patient safety and the use of smart infusion devices. He teaches courses in health policy, patient safety and informatics and healthcare leadership. Dr. Degnan has been recognized for his innovations and excellence in teaching and pharmacy practice.
Prior to his role at Purdue, Dr. Degnan served as the Medication Safety Officer at Community Health Network in Indianapolis, Indiana for more than 10 years. During his time at Community, the health system was recognized as a finalist for American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ (ASHP) award for Excellence in Medication Use Safety and with a Cheers award from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices. Dr. Degnan has held leadership positions in national organizations for both pharmacy and healthcare quality.
