Pharmacist & Adjunct Assistant Professor
Potter's House Apothecary & Midwestern University
Peoria, Arizona
Matthew Cheung, Pharm.D. is a compounding pharmacist at Potter’s House Apothecary (PHA), an independent, PCAB accredited non-sterile and sterile compounding pharmacy in Peoria, Arizona. In addition to his pharmacist duties, he serves as a preceptor for Midwestern University’s (MWU’s) APPE students and residents of PHA/MWU PGY-1 community residency program. Furthermore, he serves as a Community Partner in his Adjunct Assistant Professor position at MWU.
Dr. Cheung received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John Fisher College’s Wegmans School of Pharmacy in Rochester, New York. Here he found his passion for compounding and pedagogy. During his years in pharmacy school, he has interned at a community-compounding hybrid pharmacy, served as a teaching assistant for multiple compounding-related courses, given guest lectures on contemporary compounding, and published a beyond-use-date study for a compounded product. These accomplishments led him to pursue a PGY-1 community residency at PHA/MWU. To further refine his pedagogical skills during residency, he completed MWU’s Clinician Educators Program and an elective learning experience in academia. Upon completion of residency, he was hired on as a pharmacist at PHA, where currently he serves in a hybrid role of lab and dispensing pharmacist.
When it comes to research, Dr. Cheung is particularly interested in formulation design and development, along with stability research for compounded human and veterinary products.
